P6 "Sound Editor", Thoughts?

Post by mjwood1 » Mon Dec 07, 2015 12:30 am

I've been wanting to be able to "see" the changes and modulations i make on the P6, and what positions the knobs are in when I go through patches, to see what is going on. I have been looking for something that shows me whats going on when I'm creating, so that I can associate the audio with a visual. I am not sure if this is what I'm looking for but I did stumble upon it. Does anyone here use the Prophet 6 Sound Editor? And if so, what do you think of it?

Thanks! :D

I like you you put "Sound Editor" in quotes!

I downloaded the trial a while back and it was buggy and unpredictable, hardly worked. I would never pay $70 for it-

It is sad that Dave Smith has Sound Tower associated with him. I had the Tetra editor and it was irritatingly glitchy. There were loads of negative reviews....surprised he would have this landmark synth tied to Sound Tower.

if they were bundled with the synths for free I would perhaps use them to some degree,if your buying a dedicated Hardware synth with a great interface anyway the software is pretty much pointless and in most cases redundant anyhow I can see the benefits of having the librarian side of things but why buy such a synth if you prefer to sit and edit it with a mouse???

I find it insulting to pay so much money for a hardware synth, which are certainly not cheap synths in comparison to other analog Hardware that has flooded the market in recent years only then to be expected to spend a further $xx for a poorly implemented piece of software to go with it,that is secondary to why you would buy a knob laden Hardware device anyway!

Just a simple patch librarian is all that is needed with the P6-

I have the same woes with this software, however I disagree an editor is not needed! My P6 is sat quite a distance from me due to not just lack of space but also trying to fit it in amongst my other synths! The editor is indispensable for me and when the plugin version has been finalised (hopefully by a dedicated programmer for DSI), then being able to automate the P6 in the DAW with such ease is priceless, IMHO. :)
