Faulty P6 oscillators?

Post by helvetica » Sun Oct 04, 2015 9:45 am

Just got a Prophet 6. Very pleased at first.

It seems however that I have some problems:

- Many presets (most involving sawtooth wave) are almost silent but yet distorted (the kind of distortion you get when levels are peaking). I am aware that P6 does not have limiters, so the levels can peak.

- However many presets (with unisons, resontant filters on max, effects etc) do not generate noise.

- This involves the basic waveform (preset + write)! Which is thin (like it had passed through a high pass filter), very low volume yet distorted! It is actually unplayable (pressing down more than two keys generate peak noise). The attack of the wave also "clicks".

I am starting to think the synth came with faulty oscillators. So for example, Preset 006 is unplayable unless the master vol is below 50%, and still clicks.

It has been calibrated a few times. All ports (hp, L, R) all behave similarly.

Send an email right away to DSI support line and have them help check out your instrument. It could very well be fawlty hardware. Or it could be something else!
