Re: Songs with Prophet 12?

Recently completed my EP of pop tunes. Most of the synths are P12, also am using a Tempest on a couple of the tracks (as a drum machine and as a synth). Some selective use of PPG Wavegenerator and Nord Wave, but mostly P12 as far as synths go! Prior to the latest OS updates, else there'd be a lot mo...

Very nice work. I'm a big fan of the PPGesque sound. Glad to see some digital love on the forum :D

Re: Feature Request for Prophet 12

Would be nice to be able to set the pitch bend wheel to negative values so that bending upward can lower the pitch. Would be nice to have a stacked program and be able to bend one layer up and the other down simultaneously. So something like around the 4:07-4:14 mark in this Herbie Hancock tune coul...

Re: Quality Musical Demonstrations, Please!

That sounds impressive. I'd love to hear the sound. If it is still of any interest, better late than never. https://soundcloud.com/jason-glassman/prophet-12-woodwinds The 2 sounds are part of the same stacked program, but are essentially the same sound: a sine wave with feedback turned up to ~80, w...

Re: Quality Musical Demonstrations, Please!

Perhaps this is not a quality musical demonstration, but here is a Weekly Beat track I made last week with almost all of the sounds made by the Prophet 12. I mean all of the orchestration is made by the Prophet ( only the hi pitched flute sound is made by a Pulse 2). The drums are sampled. My aim w...

Re: Feature Request for Prophet 12

Yes, but I believe all of the modes (and variations thereof) are playable using the conventional 12 tones of the keyboard octave… I think the request was about introducing microtonal variations where we would conventionally expect half- and whole-note steps. Which would break my western brain! For m...

Re: Prophet 12 Main OS 1.0.2.16

Just updated to 1.0.2.16. Great update, very excited to see where this machine will lead us:) Thanks, Chris and team! Think I found something, apologies if already mentioned. Not sure if it is intended functionality, but it was unexpected to me: With a stacked program, if I enable the Arp on one of ...

Re: Quality Musical Demonstrations, Please!

Ok, got some time to work this into not terrible shape. Programmed something simple, and played through the 3 parts of Chopin's waltz in C# minor. More or less the whole piece, just without repeated sections. Since I'm fairly sure no one is going to be waltzing to this, figured no one would mind tha...

Re: Prophet 12 FM Modulation

What I wanted to try is the LFO triangle modulation that can do a sinus when slew limited. That modulation is bi-polar and should return proper FM. You can modulate the fequency and intensity and should be able to use that as well, but that right now is not proven and just an idea. @Raffor, I'm not...

Re: Prophet 12 FM Modulation

Thanks, that makes sense. I'll give the slew-limited LFO a try as well. I'm very interested in exploring the FM capabilities of the keyboard, have created a couple of decent patches with just sine waves and FM, but know that I'm missing a lot of opportunities because I can only really control the mo...

Re: Prophet 12 FM Modulation

Well, no linear FM means case-closed as far as I'm concerned. Now, since I was so idiotic to rush out, buying a P12 you can understand my disappointment that I have to use phase modulation by audio modulating the PWM of the sinus to get linear FM effects.   @Raffor, that's a g...

Re: Prophet 12 FM Modulation

@Jason: there is a substential amount of partly FM-based patches on my nordrack, which I'd like to port to the P12 if and/or when I get it, since it will mean the goodbye for my NR3. I assume the choice of this FM-style was made because it's analog-style and DSI is known for their analog gear? Sinc...

Re: Prophet 12 FM Modulation

You can definitely create bells with just FM. I made a couple but didn't save them (I'm still in testing mode) To note, though, the p12 also has a "tines" custom wave which sounds great as a building block for those kinds of sounds. Not as flexible as creating the timbre using operators (of course) ...

Re: Question - how to tune Layer B to match Layer A?

If you're looking to mix and match layers from the factory presets, and adjust the octaves so they sound nice together, probably the best way is to press and hold one of the oscillator buttons on the layer that you want to adjust so that it selects all 4 oscillators, and then start changing the pitc...

Re: Quality Musical Demonstrations, Please!

I'm trying to put together some time to record a couple of things for this thread… Time is the impossible constraint, always! I'll see if I can put that sound together again. Also, will try to get a classical tune back into my fingers, and see what kind of wannabe Wendy Carlos I can whip up! Might b...

Re: Quality Musical Demonstrations, Please!

Imagine how much nicer Prophet 12 would have been had it enabled the analog oscillators on the Curtis chips and had analog filter feedback in addition to its current voice architecture. That would have made it a real candidate as an Evolver successor. I still struggle to find a musical use for the ...

Re: Feature Request for Prophet 12

Separate request from the above. Noted this within a thread re: FM, just bringing it over here since it appears to a feature that isn't supported, but which would be very useful for sounds using FM and AM: If I set up Osc 2 and Osc 3 to affect Osc 1 Frequency, I am currently only able to "shape" the...
