Re: a couple arpeggiator questions

I had the same arpeggio issue. Seems like you can't end on a rest. It determines arp length by contiguous blanks at the pattern end. Not sure if there's a way around it. Sort of an odd omission to the OS. Also note that if you have a user arp, you will want to ensure you are in assign mode. Not sure...

Re: a couple arpeggiator questions

My P12 arps sync very well to my Motif master clock But I have to tell you, I can't play them manually. I tried and tried and gave up. I have to ensure the note on events are dead on time, and the gate times are adjusted properly. I found the P12 to be rather picky. So if you sequence the notes you ...

Re: Keybed for P12

I think the P12 is not as nice as my Motif XF board

It's maybe more on par with my Moxf6. So maybe it would be nice if it felt a bit more solid, given the price, but it's not like it's on par with my Yamaha CS1x, which does feel quite cheap

Keybed for P12

What keybed does the P12 use? Someone claimed it was some cheap chinese keybed based on a video where one was dissasembled. Does feel cheap to me. It doesn't look pricey, like a high end Fatar, but it seems totally solid.

Not that important. Just curious

Re: Songs with Prophet 12?

Not a full song, and I don't have the skills like some people do, but here's a soundscape thing I did. The sound with the rising and falling filter is the P12. Motif and Blofeld and maybe some Access Virus provided the other sounds

Re: Question about offset from a non-user

There's 16 assignable mod slots and 8 fixed slots. Each assignable slot can have any source, any dest and a modulation amount. DC offset is just another mod source There's no restriction on the source. You could have 1 source and 16 different destinations for example. Note that the fixed slots mean ...

Re: Triangle wave looks more like a square wave

How come the sawtooth wave is asymmetrical across the 0 axis? Probably sounds the same, but I find it odd that it's not symmetrical

Re: URGENT!!!! Some digital sound leaking in my p12 patches.

The DSI tech thinks the noise issue is on my end. That may be true. I could be getting distortion due to resonance/vibration even in my headphones I had trouble reproducing what I was hearing, so I will stop worrying about it Someone above said sine waves aren't much like sine waves. Mine look exact...

Re: URGENT!!!! Some digital sound leaking in my p12 patches.

I hear some unwanted noise, through headphones. Noticeable on sine waves. Sine waves sound a lot like sine waves to me, but no idea what they look like coming out of the oscillator block. Would prefer less noise, but don't know what's normal. Don't recall any noise on my Motif, but that's fully digi...

Re: Channel balance

All indications are that the left level is higher than the right level. P12 plugged into my mixer and changing channels does not help It seems very likely my P12 has some issue with channel balance. Even the simplest of patches shows the left level higher than the right. The pan amount needed to bal...

Re: FM synthesis

I was using the wrong modulation destination. I needed to modulate the oscillator's frequency, not FM ( modulating FM probably modulates the FM amount, not what I was trying to do, but potentially interesting as well.)

Re: FM synthesis

I tried various pemutations, and I can never get modulation via a modulation slot to work like FM modulation ( via turning up the FM modulation control.) I may be missing something of course.

I think maybe I have to use sync, but that seems to have side effects. I will keep playing with it :)

FM synthesis

When I change the FM amount on osc 1, I get one behavior ( using linear FM)

When I set osc 2 to frequency modulate oscillator 1, I get different behavior

Is there a way to have these work the same, so I can FM osc1 with osc2 and osc3 in a consistent fashion?

Channel balance

There seems to be a bias towards the left channel on every patch I tried. Just wondering if other people see this? I don't notice it that much in the audio, but I see it in the channel levels on my audio interface and mixer

Sub oscillator

Out of curiosity, what's the signal path of the sub oscillator?

Does it go through the osc 1 path ( filter and VCA)?

I figured it out. I did not realize layers A and B have their own arpeggiator. I forgot to check layer B. So mystery solved :)

Re: how to pan?

Ok, I think I have better info on this First off, I had some mixer issues. After resolving those, pan, via DC (to the powered speakers) seems to work perfectly. I presume pan via controls as explained here will also work. But pan via the headphones output does not work. I tested my headphones, and t...

B4P35 Softness

I was puzzled by why this patch seems to arpeggiate with no arpeggiator on. Notes are being generated. I can turn off all the oscillators, and I still hear notes. I know there's ways to make it seem like a patch is playing notes without an arp, but if all the oscillators are off, I would not normall...
