Re: Any linear FM presets available?

Hopefully you'll have already tried the selection of FM presets that accompany the latest P-12 1.3.5 operating system?

If not, you can download them from this page:

Re: Channel balance

Just in case Have you checked this behavior with the basic patch and a single Oscilator with near no autom, neither pan or stereo adjustments, only on 1 part? Agreed - that's why I suggested using the Basic Program earlier in this thread  Somehow I doubt that these channel differences (if con...

Re: Can a Prophet 12 do experimental?

The Prophet 12 sure can sound like a couple of bolts inside a tin can. It can really really sound horrible. I have never used another synth that can be unforgiving, not even my Korg Z1 (another MONSTER). And then, it sounds excellent when you do the right stuff. It is hard as nails or soft as feath...

Re: OS 1.3

Just wanted to say how wrong I was about not finding anything meaningful about Audio Mod now it's back in 1.3.1 , I love it :D So do I - it's a great way of adding some real-life grit/humanity to sounds  My favourite so far is routing Audio Mod to the filter frequency via Env 3, for some dela...

Re: URGENT!!!! Some digital sound leaking in my p12 patches.

Someone above said sine waves aren't much like sine waves. Mine look exactly like sine waves in the output file. If there's distortion, I am not seeing it. I don't have a good spectrum analysis program though. The saw waves don't look very saw wave like to me. But it sounds like sawtooth wave, so n...

Re: OS 1.3

It's possible to get new sounds to be delivered to a different destination from their intended one, but it generally involves modifying bytes in the sysex file before it's sent (discussed in another thread here), and is not for the squeamish. Far safer to save your two user banks elsewhere before do...

Re: Sticky keys

I've noticed this on some other manufacturer's keybeds - for instance my CME UF8 does this - but as others have mentioned, one tap on each of the keys and all the stickiness goes, so I don't consider it a real problem

Re: Ground Loop - P12 USB

Hi, It can be tricky when you've got a USB cable connecting a grounded synth like the P12 and a grounded interface like your UAD Apollo, since as soon as you plug in that USB cable you're creating a ground loop. I wrote some time ago about such problems, so having a read here may help clarify: www.s...

...and if it really were a modular like that in Euro format, it would cost more than the P12 by a considerable margin!!

Re: Can a Prophet 12 do experimental?

This is one reason why I downloaded and installed the Soundtower P-12 Editor, for its randomising features, but unfortunately these are deactivated in the demo version. Yes, I know that of 100 random programs, 90 will be unusable, but the final 10 might just be a spring board to develop something yo...

Re: Channel balance

Hi Michael, I suspect this is more likely to be a difference in the gain settings of your mixer channel than the output of your Prophet, but you can easily check, by plugging just one channel (left or right) of the Prophet into each mixer channel in turn. Choose a sound that sustains (the Basic Prog...

Re: OS 1.3

Did not try this yet, but sad to hear that the audio mod source does not work. Maybe there is not enough juice under the hood for linear fm, if audio mod is in use. Would have been nearly perfect if it worked. I am a little bit lost with words, if they do not fix it and this stays as the final os f...

However many more times did DSI need reminding that the Audio Mod got broken in OS 1.26?

Well now they have released it to the world, so hopefully a host of other people will remind them too

Re: how to pan?

I have found that setting Slider Position to 127 Pan and DC -64 Pan accomplishes something similar and only uses 2 slots. Yep, it certainly achieves something similar, and is probably fine for most applications, but doesn't actually move from hard left to hard right (more like 3/4 left to 3/4 right...

Re: how to pan?

Hi Michael, You're half way there (quite literally  ) Pan takes a value from -127 (hard left) through 0 (centre) to +127 (hard right). So if you route Slider position to the Pan parameter it will move the position from centre to hard right, because the slider outputs values fro 0 to 127. It's ...

Hi Dennis, This sounds most odd, and I hope you weren't wearing any expensive trousers at the time  I've not heard of anyone else suffering from something like this with the 1.2.26 beta version, but judging by my own experiences with the Soundtower P12 editor I suspect it could possibly be som...
