Re: Pro12 Module or P6 for PADS, Textures, etcc..

I find pads and textures really benefit from the modulation you have with the P12 (and P'08 for that matter). The P6 has a great sound but the lack of modulation and lower polyphony limits it's usefulness as a pad machine. If you're making ambient music with long decays you will most likely encounte...

To all intents and purposes, this forum is unmoderated and has no active administration. At the moment, the new one is a bit quiet but if more people move over there it will pick up. :)

Re: The high-pass filter. What unique value does it bring to the Prophet 6?

Unlike the Curtis filters in the P08 and P12, the P6 lowpass filter doesn't lose the bass frequencies when you up the resonance. I never needed a high-pass filter on the P08 as a bit of resonance almost always thinned out the sound anyway. When I had a P12 I barely ever needed or used the high-pass ...

Re: How to integrate in DAW / partial Local Ctrl

It also might be that my P6 is faulty, because it seems that nobody else has issues?? My P6 displays exactly the same behaviour as yours does when local control is 'off' and the NRPN control data is routed back to the synth within Logic. Effects on/off is erratic and the displays flicker when adjus...

I will try it with Logic when I get some time tomorrow, to see if it does the same thing here.

Re: How to integrate in DAW / partial Local Ctrl

Yes! The kind of partial "local off" mode you describe is something I would like to see on all DSI keyboard synths. The panel controls on all the Prophets are so unique to those instruments that I doubt there are many people using them as master controllers for external or soft synths. They do, howe...

Sudden loss of tuning

Yesterday I was moving around a lot of program locations on the Prophet 6, to free up a bank or two for my own sounds. After moving around 30 of them I noticed that the synth suddenly lost all tuning, with individual voices wildly detuned from each other. It was as if the P6 had lost all its automat...

Re: Live Panel Mode - No Sound - HELP

Make sure oscillator volumes are up, low pass filter is open, VCA envelope is at full and program volume is up near full. I noticed all the knobs were at their minimum from the factory so I had to turn a few things up to get a sound in "live" mode.

Hope that helps. :)

Re: Prophet 6 problems

I just sent them an email. It would be nice if it has a software issue and not a hardware issue but I am really thinking hardware. Sometimes when you are playing the sound goes out again but you hear a high frequency noise. It hurts, because this is such a great idea, it looks gorgeous, excellent l...

Re: Prophet 6 Main OS 1.1

I've not used a Presonus Audiobox but I can't see ny reason why that would not work. It has both MIDI in and out ports so it would be connecting correctly to the P6.

ah, but it does! internal jumper sets the input to stereo via an insert cable.
Just like the El Capistan (which is also wonderful with synths).

And the above post reminds me why I don't bother coming back here so much and why TAO left completely. Razmo - so many of the good points you make are undone by needless repetition and shouting. I sometimes feel that I know your opinions on DSI and their synths better than my own, given how frequent...

At the time TAO left I was already losing enthusiasm for this place. Too many threads that would once have interesting discussions were being dragged down to the level of bitter arguments. I too found the negativity draining. Arguably I may have inadvertently contributed to some of it by highlightin...

Re: Sequencer Question

It'd be nice if you could transpose as an option but, personally I'm happy that it lets you play over the top. That's a feature I don't have on any of my other synths. Transposing makes a lot more sense on a monophonic synth obviously.

Re: getting the best out of the LP filter

The audio effect of this is that the oscillators had a harsh top end with the filter wide open (164, rez 0) and the square didn't sound right, compared to the other gear I was using for the test. The reason this is in the filter topic is that as I brought the cutoff frequency down to between 140 an...

Re: getting the best out of the LP filter

The LP filter opens an octave wider than the Mopho/P08 one, I believe. I think that might be part of the reason there are extra harmonics getting through. I had to be very careful with the P12 LP filter. Once the modulations start stacking up it's too easy to get it sounding harsh.

Re: OS 1.1.0 Bugs

Is "Revert Param" supposed to work for all panel controls? I only ask as it doesn't appear to work for Filter 2's LP<->HP state. Revert All successfully resets the Filter 2 state but the state LEDs are not reset to their correct values. Similarly, the Filter Routing control LEDs are not set back to ...

Re: Feature request: more Unison modes.

I sometimes think that Dave's insatiable appetite for designing and building the next exciting thing is DSI's worst enemy from a business perspective. I dearly want to see all the instruments in the current range refreshed with OS overhauls where appropriate, and I'm pretty confident that DSI...

Re: MIDI Spec & Control resolution/values

There is currently no way to display the active param on a screen, we discussed this and couldn't think of a good way to do it. I do use the displays for debugging so maybe we'll add it if we figure out a smooth way to integrate. That being said, there is a good reason NOT to do that... use your ea...

MIDI Spec & Control resolution/values

In all the videos of the Prophet-6 that I've seen there's no indication of any numerical values when moving the controls. I can understand why that is (simplicity and the WYSIWYG aesthetic) but would it be possible to use one of the numerical displays to show the value of the control as you turn it?...
